Black Metal Humour No Longer an Oxymoron

Remember Solefald - that band you've never heard of who I'm always writing news stories about? Well, there was great speculation as to whether their recent couple of albums (minus the remix one) would have a follow up:

AN ICELANDIC ODYSSEY

Part 1: Red For Fire

Part 2: Black For Death

Part 3: ?

Anyway - on Tuesday my MySpace blog alerts (bless 'em) popped up with a Solefald post and - hooray! OMFG! No way! Etc. They were announcing a new album - part 3, called 'White For Power'.

"I'll read that on Thursday and post a news story," I thought, not bothering to read it just yet.

The more I thought about it, the more the title struck me as... ill-advised.

Anyway, if I'd actually read the blog I would have realised it was an hilarious joke and I'd been April Fooled. Lolocaust!

Amongst the outrageous claims were:

  • The album would appear on "No Colour Records".
  • Notorious black metal murdering nazi Varg had written them a song called "23 Stabs 21 Years".
  • The album would be recorded in a bunker in Berlin.

What's even funnier is the many messages of congratulations in amongst the lols and rofls from genuine hairy, far-right metalheads.

'Morgoth': "I didn't laugh."

Solefald you have outdone yourselves!
