Not content with basing their sound entirely on the influential bands that make up the soundtrack to oddball cult flick ‘Donnie Darko’, hot new band White Lies have gone one step further in their new video and borrowed the look and feel of said film, with the odd creepy-faceless-people, ET-update (to the 80s – there are kids on skateboards) and person-having-a-bath-in-milk motifs chucked in for effect. You’ll even notice the lead singer skulking about looking emotional with his hood up, á la Donnie Darko.

None of this detracts from the fact that ‘Death’ a classic slice of 80s revival pop and points the way to a promising debut, following on from the equally goth-tinged, equally great 1st single ‘Unfinished Business’.
