Tupac Producer Johnny "J" Jackson Dies In Jail

Celebrated hip-hop producer Johnny "J" Jackson died last Friday in a Los Angeles jail, we are sad to report.

The producer is reported to have thrown himself from an upper level at Los Angeles County Jail, killing himself on impact. Jackson was incarcerated for DUI charges.

The Mexican born, LA raised producer first made his mark in the rap world with his work on Tupac's 1994 single, Pour Out A Little Liquor, from the Thug Life LP, following his work with bilingual rapper Candyman and his own Solar Records release I Gotta Be Me.

He went on to work on the Above The Rim soundtrack, and 'Pac's post-jail epic Me Against The World, producing hits like the Biggie-baiting Hit 'Em Up, All About U and the posthumously released single Until The End Of Time.

Following Pac's death in 1996 Johnny J took a role as supervisor with Interscope and Death Row, collecting, remixing and upholding the rapper's material. He also produced records for Big Syke, Napoleon and Bizzy Bone.
