Here’s a note from the man himself about the single:
“My personal history, dear reader, is easier to describe to
you than that of the song "Oh! You Pretty Woman". Having fronted the
band
“It was whilst in said seaside dwelling I first heard the song of which I briefly spoke earlier. The recording I stumbled upon was that of Milton Brown and His Musical Brownies, a 1930's western swing outfit. I took it and moulded into a new form and it was released along with my own creations on the mini-album, The Famous Poet. It’s author is unknown and many different versions of the song have been recorded, each a new take on an old time classic. Following in that tradition, I have added my own new energy and concept to the song (basically, a punch-drunk hoedown singalong). Listen on and enjoy.” Derek Meins 2008
