REM front person Michael Stipe likes to get naked when he's had too many jugs of sauce - and once scared the living skidaddle out of actress Shirley MacLaine by telling her she'd appeared in one of his dreams. Stipe confesses that when drunk "I just laugh and laugh and laugh. When I get really hammered, I take my clothes off. That's a sure sign."
On the Shirley MacLaine incident, Stipe told US mag Blender that he'd met the 70-year-old star and told her that he really admired her work, and "I told her about a dream I had with her in it, and I thought she'd get a laugh out of it."
Unfortunately, the actress thought that Stipe was some corners-of-the-mouth drooling freak, and called security. "I apologised and backed away," said Stipe. "I'm a huge fan of her work as an actor. I was heartbroken."
In the same interview, Stipe also talked openly about his sexuality, revealing "I was first attracted to men actively when I was 13." However, he apparently first got his rocks off "much earlier, with a brother/sister team with red hair in a bathtub on Easter Sunday. It was fairly innocent, but it was really fun and I never looked back. I still have a thing for redheads and freckles." Spitroast!
