We've nearly sorted the rest of the year's PlayLouder shows, readers - with the next one on Wednesday, October 18th at the Old Blue Last. For not only do we have Absentee, the gloriously downbeat multi-instrumental collective who've long been beloved of PlayLouder, but some right malvolent noise too.
The evil meat in our sonic sandwich comes courtesy of Australians HTRK (standing for Hate Rock Trio), currently residing in Berlin, who recorded their debut album with Bad Seed Roland S Howard. They sound like the 4AD roster dressed up in Angus Andrews' late and enormous beard, and are magnificent.
And first but by no means least, there's the terric indie pop stuff from The Patty Winters Show, all understated harmonies and sweet, catchy hooks dressed up in wry Englishness that's already won the love of Mark Riley from The Fall and beyond.
What's more, downstairs there's going to be a free Vice party, with Diplo doing his best to blow the new roof off and making us fall down into the bar after.
