London's indie cognoscenti were out in force last night, watching shows by the miserable JJ72 and the thoroughly un-miserable Anti-Product.
Suede's Simon Gilbert, The Manics' James Dean Bradfield, The Lightning Seeds' Ian Broudie and Graham Coxon all turned up at Camden's Dingwalls to see the Irish youths wailing like Bonnie Tyler's pet Harpies. According to an eyewitness, Simon Gilbert was seen putting his fingers in his ears half way through the bands' performance of former single 'Snow'.
Across town, at Highbury's The Garage, a Glam-tastic line up of Remote Control, Cheesecake Truck, Anti-Product and Sack Trick attracted Feeder's Taka, The Fighting Cocks and Rachel Stamp. The Stamp's singer, David Ryder Prangley joined Sack Trick onstage for an encore wearing a Cher wig and Mickey Mouse ears.
Typically, Gypsy Hardcore nutters The Fighting Cocks were up to no good, as singer Princess Molly told Playlouder: "We were a bit bored, so we all pissed in a pint glass, and put it on stage when Anti Product were playing, and one of the band drank it! And no, I don't think they noticed!"
Which should serve as a warning: Should you ever come across the band, politely refuse any drinks they offer you, And should they proffer a Lion bar, run away.
