I don't think people have ever bought Glastonbury tickets based on the headline acts, frankly. Most years the lineups aren't confirmed until well after you've already had to buy the tickets. I think people mostly go to Glastonbury for the atmosphere and the experience and to see a varied lineup of bands.

But talking to people this year, everyone's just done with the festival now, and the weather has been no small part of that. The organisers can't do anything about the rain, but they could do a lot in terms of drainage, crowd control, rest areas, and organisation (which was nonexistent in the carparks last year). I think a lot of people are just realising (as I have) that Glastonbury was a fantastic experience in the past, but now there are a lot of other festivals out there with all the great things we enjoyed but with none of the hassle and "put up with it because it's Glastonbury" attitude.

And it's got absolutely nothing to do with Jay-Z.

    2005 > Kylie.
Due to this I instigated UN styled negotiations with my beloved in order to be relieved of my parental duties for 4 or so days, something as some people round your way know all too well happened !
So I bought mine on the strength of the headline.
Imagine the disappoinment when Jaxx were put in her place.

I'm proven wrong! Though I bet you won't be buying based on headliners again any time soon...

I'm not bothering to go this year - too many people, too many rainy years, not many decent acts.

I've been to 8 or so Glastos since I was 16 years old. I have been to the last 3 all of which were very wet and muddy but like so many that have experienced Glastonbury I agree that it's the people and atmosphere that make it what it is (WAS). Over the years the price has risen extortionately which automatically prices out large areas of our communities and cultures and the very soul that made Glastonbury what it is. The increased numbers also make it very difficult to move around and you miss a lot of acts because of this ...which is what you pay all that money for at the end of the day. Last year was my last Glasto and I'll be going to smaller festivals such as the GreenMan in Wales and Connect in Scotland that provide the space, atmosphere, beautiful scenery and the peace that Glasto once had. I loved Glasto for the was it was and it's diversity and mixture of people and cultures but now that MONEY and THE BANDS as the most important things the SOUL has been lost. McGlasto, No Thanks!

Try Connect or Greenman festival.
