Joan As Police Woman “To Survive” Album Review

I saw the title and thought "ooh, I didn't know she had a new one out". By the end of the article, I felt I learned something and probably won't even bother listening to it.

Like zombiehamster, I quite liked her first one, but this line particularly struck me: "if you can listen to an album by an artist whom you respect and still feel that it is awful, then there must be something wrong."

I've felt that with waaay too many albums before to be sucked in again.

Gosh, thanks Melissa for the kind words about the review. I gave this album over a week before I committed anything to type so that it would have time to familiarise itself. It was disappointing then, when it actually turned out to be pretty horrendous. Shame really.

Tis a shame, but you've got to call 'em hows you see 'em and hope the next album's an improvement.

Exactly!! On the upside, Antony Hegarty's recent work on Hurcules & Love Affair is an album that is well worth investigating!

He certainly does, I would have loved to see them. I think it's a wicked record, the "Blind" single is one of the best tracks that I have heard so far this year!

I would never have imagined that Antony would go so well with Tim Goldsworthy/DFA beats. They compliment each other so well, it's all very New York Cool, but it does it exceptionally.

Nice! Was the full group there or was it just Andy Butler? I haven't heard any live reports yet so I am curious.
