im all for constructive criticism , it was help you improve-but thats taking the p+#s!
you use nightwish (or insert any other female fronted operatic goth band) and arch enemy as your benchmark, particularly for the vocals when we arent even remotely inspired by, nor trying to sound like either -try starting at black sabbath or trouble and go via high on fire or spiritual beggars and then listening with the correct mindset.

However, I will say this; It's not much good going around telling people who you were inspired by or informing them of what the 'correct' mindset to listen to your music after the fact. Perhaps if people aren't 'getting it' you're not making your intentions clear enough in the first place? I've no problem with counter-criticism (And it looked like you had an interesting argument along gender lines going there for a second with the 'insert any other female-fronted goth band' bit), but i don't buy into the idea that there's some sort of authorial privilege to dicate one 'correct' interpretation to your work.

But then again, it would help if i could find the review you're referring to, and indeed listen to your stuff

i do agree actually that there shouldnt be a correct interpretation, but also there cant be one correct 'critique'

i dont think reviews should be passed off as the difinitive answer ,this is what i was trying to get across, my band is Redemption Unnamed.

incidentally we are more than open to multiple reviews, so if you feel there's someone better equipt to review the release than Jamie then please get them to upload a review with a different viewpoint

It's not for me. That's for sure. If my references seemed too mainstream or spurious well I was just endeavouring to use comparisons people might be able to relate to.
