People should not be congratulated for being fat. They should be chastised. There is millions of evidences that being fat is bad, for example you take up loads of room and smell. I remember Beth Ditto saying (on the subject of her refusal to deodorise) "Punks are meant to smell". Well punks should not be celebrated either, though how Ditto identifies with them is beyond me. All in all - Being obese is probably EVEN worse than being anorexic, as it has serious ramifications for one's health AND is less cool.

A friebd of mine was having dinner with her boyfriend and was talking about what would happen if she became old and developed jowls. Her boyfriend insisted he would still find her attractive, loudly assuring her "I'd fuck you in the jowl" which caused several diners to look up but she found rather sweet.
