Why can't it be possible to MODIFY A TAG when it's obviously wrong. I mean one can tag an album as he wants but who will have the last word ? Could we think about (Is there a way to invent ?) a system in wich if I want to tag everything I don't like as "Shitty", "Inferior" or "Disrespectable" some valid instance (democratic vote ?) can revise my opinion. Just a question though lots of ways to explore for tagging being " " " reliable " " " or simply relevant or just a cool way of browsing...

we're catching the fact that it's you who tagged the album etc - so in future we can give people an option not to see tags from people they disagree with

if you let everyone tag then a consensus might emerge

or we could let people rate the tags, or your tagging abilities

    so many choices!

but we shall be trying to work out what's best from how people use their ability to tag stuff - so keep tagging

Like wikipedia : let people say ... something will probably come out of it and let'call it the truth (little sound of doubt). I'm sure there must be a new way to explore... But sorry I don't have the brain to think seriously about that now (listening to Lemon Jelly ...) But be sure I will come back on it some day.

or you can use the tag as a loose rdf-ish association between a user and a thing - then tags like 'shit' and 'brilliant' (and any sort of 'genre, IMO) go from being useless to being incredibly useful, as you can infer equivalence between different tags.

For instance, music i tag "fucking brilliant!!!" my colleagues might tag "whingy indie crap". Therefore, despite the perjorative tone of their tagging, I'd still want to know about their "whingy indie crap".

Ohh man Are you sure ? I was Joking. It would'nt make me feel confortable if I was talking with you if Tagged as boring or whatever (I'm not sayin yu are but you know...) Let's say we are grown up and don't point fingers at others. Tagging music yes ! it is part of the critic job a community can assume but let's not label/classify people... Not here (again) please .

it would have to be done so that you could choose whether or not to see and/or trust the tagger, but yes - it's on the list

-it's on the list- so let's blindly make it ? Do You have your word to say. Do We have something to propose ? Is A public beta version useful ? What if your boss were wrong ? Why can't we had "stuffs on the list too ?"

bob1: what was the suggestion you made? I have been trying to track it down as I am listening as hard as I can but could not remember it

it wasn't anything big, i just thought cause theres a lot of music i like but also alot of music on the site i don't know about some kind of 'if you like this you might like that ' type thing might be useful for people who are interested in finding new things all the time. i know theres the play list thing, which is good, and i know it would be down to someone elses opinion, but it might be useful, but then again perhaps not. i really don't know how it could work, the tag thing is good , as is viewing other peoples stashed stuff but i'd just like to make a new find and love it and there is a vast amount of music on your site i just don't know about. exploration is good but guidence is useful

there's guidance by people you know and trust, then there's guidance by strangers (trusted or not), and then there's guidance by statistics and computers
