Moshi Moshi Records monthly live music extravaganza is back after a brief hiatus over the summer months to go to festivals (that were all weirdly similar) and plan its 10th Birthday which is taking place on Saturday 18th October at matter (fabric's new nightclub at The O2 Arena). But before that happens we cordially invite you to the return of London's best live music night (where else can you see 4 brilliant bands for just a fiver?).
Moshi Moshi Records
presents...
A Mountain Of One [Live + DJ]
A timeless London-based psychedelic band of epic proportions. On first listen you'll be transfixed. They make a kind of prog-pop that has all the magic of Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, Air, Santana and all of those other essential yet understated dreamcasters. AMO1 create compositions of classic beauty that are almost eerie in their irresistibility.
Casiokids [Live]
Casiokids are from Bergen in Norway. Bergen is one of the wettest cities in the world and yet Casiokids make seriously contagious and urgent disco, shameless pop, afro-beat and indie. They must be special in other words. Paul Simon springs to mind but he never utilised shadow pupet theatre (don't ask). Double A side Grønt lys i alle ledd/Togens hule is out on Moshi Moshi Singles Club in mid-October.
Your Twenties [Live]
Your Twenties is fronted by Gabriel from insanely lovable electro-wonk-pop band Metronomy. Your Twenties are just as loveble but play down the wonk and go for unabashed old fashioned pop and it's spot on. Their backing vocals are a thing to behold and first single Caught Wheel is equal parts dancey, fun times and dreamy.
Stricken City [Live]
A band that have been cruising under the radar for a while. They make that kind of dubby jangle-pop that's quite easy to approve of. Lead singer Rebekah is excruciatingly pretty which has no effect on the fact that they're a group of musicians that you can't take your eyes and ears of. Slinky and scratchy but ultimately very sultry.
Friend [DJ]
A definite one to watch. A purveyor of fine disco house, funky stuff and other musics females (and guys in the know) are guaranteed to dance and have fun to.
