Whether you live frugally by choice or necessity, there are always things you will want to splurge on. On an online forum, a group of women shares all the purchases they wish they could indulge in. Their choices are very relatable.
Here’s the list of 10 little things to splurge on, as confessed by women.
First Class Plane Ticket
Whether you travel frequently or only on occasion, flying first class will always be on everyone’s wish list. It’s understandable why it’s not often feasible because of the added cost. But the differences in comfort and amenities are significant.
One woman says, “It’s a Grand Canyon of difference between business and economy.” Another adds, “Lying on a bed is what makes it wonderful. You can get a full night’s sleep and arrive as good as new. You even have the space to put on makeup.”
A Nice Vacation
Travel is the number one thing I’d love to be able to afford more. Indeed, a lovely vacation is one of the most common luxuries we would love to splurge on. Travel can be costly, but so many long to visit places worldwide. I echo one individual’s dream of a long, worry-free vacation in a “sunny environment with zero responsibilities.”
Concert and Theatre Tickets
Years ago, I went to concerts and the theatre quite often. But these days, tickets to concerts or Broadway shows are quite expensive. Therefore, seeing your favorite singer, band, play, or musical would go into the rare splurge category. Someone points out how higher ticket prices and places like Ticketmaster tack on so many fees.
Laser Hair Removal
Professional hair removal is time-consuming and expensive. Depending on the type of laser hair removal one chooses, it can be a costly thing we’d rarely consider but wish we could. But constantly buying razors or blade replacements for shaving is also costly. I would love to splurge on this one day. It would save so much time and money in the long run.
Spa Treatments
Self-care is a luxury many women wish for but only sometimes have the money for. Spa treatments such as facials, massages, hot stones, or seaweed treatments sound divine. These can be relaxing and beneficial to your physical and mental health.
Nice Clothes
Shopping and buying new and nice clothes shouldn’t feel unattainable, but it often is that way for women. One contributor points out, “The majority of my money goes to bills, and it’s very rare I get new clothes. It would be nice to get new shoes, jackets, pants, etc.” Women don’t even mean designer clothes when wanting “nice, new items.” But this would also be an incredible splurge for those types of pieces.
A Housekeeper
We often feel embarrassed when our homes are not clean or picked up. But keeping a clean and tidy house can prove difficult physically and time-wise. That is why so many women wish to hire someone to clean their homes semi-regularly. One person claims, “I would have them come in once a week. One week would be just basic cleaning, and the other would be deep cleaning.” Wouldn’t we all love this?
Patio Furniture
If you are fortunate enough to have any outdoor space or yard, you will want to enjoy it. But furniture that is meant for outside is very pricey. Consequently, these pieces will go on the wish list that only feels like a dream. A homeowner describes, “My husband and I bought a home last year with a lovely backyard, but we hardly go out there because there’s nowhere to sit!”
Personal Trainer
As someone trying to exercise more and get into better shape, I wish I could splurge on a personal trainer. They can help ensure you exercise for your goals and avoid injuries. Moreover, trainers are great to have in your corner. Someone notes they would love a personal trainer “to keep me motivated to stay in shape for the rest of my life.”
A Piano
A piano is something I have wanted to splurge on my entire life. I am not alone in this wish. Even if you cannot play the instrument yourself, they are beautiful and can be focal points in your home. Plus, you could invite those musically inclined for, as Grace on Will & Grace calls, “an old-fashioned piano party.” I don’t care if she made this up. That sounds like a grand time.
